For Art-Lovers: Andy Warhol Museum

Pittsburgh is Andy Warhol’s native city. The Warhol is one of the best single-artist museums world-wide. There are 4,000 Warhol’s works displayed there: paintings, drawings, prints, photographs, videos. There are also the so-called “time-capsules”. These are records of Warhol’s daily dealings and inclination for collecting.

Despite the fact that the museum is devoted to Andy Warhol’s art there can be seen the works by other artists who extended the boundaries of art similar to Warhol. The place is a great source of information of the artist, the time period and culture.

The museum incorporates the archives of the documents exposing Andy Warhol’s life. The archives are accessible not only for researchers but the commons as well.

On Friday nights there are special programs in the museum, where you can attend small theater performances, watch films, listen to the music and even taste wine. From 5.00 p.m. to 10.00 p.m. the admission is half-priced.

On the ground floor there is the Warhol Store. There you can obtain Warhol posters, books, videos, different postcards and gifts.

If you get hungry you can go to the Warhol Cafe that is available to the public, even if they do not have Museum admission. The cafe is open during museum working hours. There you can taste some appetizers and beverages.

The museum is open from 10.00 a.m. till 5.00 p.m. every day except Friday and Monday. Fridays it works from 10.00 a.m. till 10.00 p.m. It does not work on Monday.

As far as admission is concerned, they charge $10 for adults, $7 for senior citizens, $6 for students and children ages 3
