For the first twenty-one years of our lives, my buddy and I always lived in the same city. In addition to going to high school and all of the preceding years of school together, we ended up going to college together. We weren’t roommates in the dorms during our freshman year of college (although we rushed the same fraternity and hung out all of the time), but we did end up becoming roommates for the remaining three years of college.
However, after we graduated last May, we ended up getting offered jobs in different cities. Obviously, we didn’t have any choice but to move to different cities, but that didn’t make it any easier. My buddy is like a brother to me, so not having him around took a lot of adjusting. Fortunately, being apart didn’t change our relationship, and we still visit each other on a fairly regular basis.
Now that we don’t see each other all the time, when we do get together, we really go out of our way to have a good time. When I went to hang out with him in Pittsburgh for four days last month, we went out to the bars every single night that I was there!
